Buying art can be an enriching personal experience. If you have the chance to browse through your local art galleries, I highly recommend it. Viewing art in person can help you identify which styles resonate with you – what colors, forms, and feelings do you really connect with?

Despite the joy of coming face-to-face with art, there’s also a lot to be said for purchasing a painting or another artwork from those who are selling art online. The question is – what should you do to ensure you have the best experience possible when buying art online?

Learn About the Artist

When browsing artwork online, take the time to check out the artist’s biography. Find out what inspires them to paint, draw, sculpt, or build. Knowing the artist’s story can help you understand the artist’s perspective. If you feel like you can relate to the motivations and experiences of the creator, you’ll likely have a deeper connection with the art itself.

Choose Art – Then Wait

Buying anything online is easy and fast. You choose what you want, hit the buy button, and pay.

While we’re all accustomed to the convenience of online sales, there’s also value in slowness, especially when it comes to something as personal as art.

The art you choose is something you may look at every day. Why rush the decision?

I believe we should fall in love with the art we take ownership of. As an artist selling art online, of course, I want art lovers to purchase my work if they like it. But, I do truly want my clients to know that it’s okay to take the time you need to choose what you want. Simmer in the idea for a day or two, then make your purchase.

If you’ve found a piece of art from my online art gallery and you’re interested in it – but you want time to make sure it’s a work you truly connect with – contact me. Let me know which painting you’re considering. I’ll put it on hold for a while so you have the chance to ponder your choice without worrying about somebody else buying something you genuinely love.

Immerse Yourself in Beauty

Before purchasing from an artist selling art online, immerse yourself in what you consider beautiful. Visit a local gallery. Go for a hike in the woods. Stroll through a local botanical garden or park.

Being around art and nature – or anything else that inspires you, from the beach to your city’s architecture – will remind you why you love art in the first place. This reminder can help you decide exactly what you want from the art you buy.

Feel free to browse my gallery online and reach out if you have any questions. If you like the style of my work but want a custom painting, let me know. You can commission me for an artwork, too.
